Why you should vote for Mayor Steve Vaus

Mayor Steve Vaus has been a tireless proponent of Poway years before he was a City Councilman and then Mayor.  It seems like you cannot turn on the radio or watch a morning show without him talking about the goings on in Poway.  He is one of the most accessible Mayors in the country, meeting with residents almost every week, and continues to defend the Poway way of life.

Steve is helping to keep Poway the Safest City in San Diego County, and one of the Safest in California.  Poway's roads are the envy of the County.  It has relatively more space dedicated to public lands and parks than any other city in the county.  All of this comes from leadership that keeps the City focused on its core missions.

Steve has worked with the council on many important issues, most recently working to strengthen Poway's voice in San Diego County with the appointment of Caylin Frank to fill a council vacancy.

Steve faces three challengers, all of whom are upstanding Poway residents:

Yuri Bohlen, a Walgreens cashier and former stand-up comedian.  He has a Twitter account and some general ideas on how he wants to see Poway improve.

Pros:  Some ideas on growth.
Cons: Not very well connected to how things actually work in government.

Brian Edmonston, a self-employed real estate property manager and active opponent of last fall’s Measure A.  He appears to have started out as a single issue candidate and is trying to broaden his appeal.

Pros: General ideas on growth in Poway.
Cons: Focus is too narrow.

Emily Johnson, a 2016 Poway High School graduate and employee of a software company.  Heavy focus to expand low income subsidized housing to Poway.  This may not be the type of thing that best serves Poway into the future.

Pros: She is young and idealistic with great energy.
Cons: Not enough experience, no defined platform.

Overall, the choice is pretty clear.  Keep Poway on the good path.
